After a huge scare this morning, we were released to come home this afternoon! Doctors debated on keeping Connor in the hospital for a couple of days to observe him and his brain activity, but knowing that we will bring him back as soon as anything else happens, they decided to let us go.
What got us to the hospital today was Connor having a really rough night. He started complaining of back pain around 10pm. Then, he was restless all night, we couldn't calm him down, he was saying "Mommy, it's bad, it's really bad, it hurts." Then, he said his stomach was hurting. Around 3am, he started screaming that his arm was hurting and he needed ice packs and his arm did the same thing stroke patients do. From there, he started grabbing his legs saying "Mommy, Mommy it hurts, make it stop!" And his legs started shaking uncontrollably.
We called the oncologist and she wanted him in the ER immediately.
Doctors were concerned Connor might have been having seizures. However, they now believe it was just really bad muscle spasms. The brain can do funny things and with the tumor actively growing, it can sometimes hit an area just right or put pressure on something just right. You never really know what will happen.
Let's pray that this was a fluke thing and not an indication of things to come. Right now, we are waiting to hear if Texas Children's in Houston has a spot available for Connor. We are trying to get him in to a protocol (study) there. While this is experimental, that's really all we have left at this point. Surgery is not an option and they have maxed out the dosage of radiation they can give him. Most forms of chemo don't usually work on his type of tumor, but this protocol is having some success.
If for some reason they don't accept him (perhaps the program is closed or the program is on hold for now), then our doctor also has calls in to St. Jude's, Duke and New York. All along, we have said wherever we need to go, whatever we need to do we will do it. For now, we just pray that an answer comes soon.

Well, Joshua also got some real bad news, another tumor has grown in the back of his head. I wanted to talk to you, but yu must have recieved the same news we did. The options are the same, to go to Houston MD Anderson, but we are scheduled for an emergency biopsy on Monday morning at 7:30a.m. to know what we are dealing with. Josh really would perfer to be treated in San Antonio, but we will know how much damage this tumor has done and because it also developed during chemo, this is a very dangerous disease. My prayers are with your family and Conner. Remember as long as we have HOPE and FAITH that is what makes us stronger.
