We heard from Dr. Shah tonight after she got word from Texas Children's. They had hoped to get Connor into a protocol there, but it appears there was another child ahead of him who got in and there are no more spaces available.
Connor, Mackenzie and Daddy have all been sick since Saturday night ('tis the season for the flu bug, virus or whatever it is!!). So, Dr. Shah wants to see Connor first thing in the morning to assess him to make sure whatever he has wouldn't dis-qualify him for a protocol. After that, she wants to talk to us about our options.
She says right now, Texas Children's still wants to see him on Thursday so they can do the initial consultation/assessment. That way, if a protocol does open up, he'll be ready.
Otherwise, she may go ahead and start him on what's called Temodar (a chemotherapy drug) on Friday. This is half of the combination they were using in one of the protocols we were trying to get him in. However, we don't have access to the other half of the medicine here.
Pray that God will give us wisdom and strength to make the right decisions for Connor.
We all know that this is going to be one heck of a story for him to tell at his High School Graduation!!!
God Bless,
James, Brandy, Mackenzie & Connor
