January 22, 2008

No, we did not fall off the face of the Earth again!!!  It's just been a little hectic these past few days and I have literally collapsed each evening and have not been able to write updates!  Sorry about that :)
The good news is, Connor is feeling much better!  The headaches have come and gone a little since the other day, but nothing as severe as what sent us to the ER in the first place.  In the meantime, he's been running around like a normal 4 year old acting like nothing is wrong!
We had a FABULOUS Friday!  A very nice man by the name of John MacDonald arranged for us to take Connor and Mackenzie to the San Antonio Rampage Hockey Game.  This was the first time the kids had ever been to a hockey game and they had such a BLAST!!!  Mackenzie was mesmerized by the way the guys hit the puck and skated after it on the ice.  Connor was just having fun dancing in the aisle and waving to the mascot, cameraman, hockey players, anyone he thought might be looking his way!  Of course the best part was getting to eat all of the junk food!  What kid doesn't like popcorn, nachos and cotton candy for dinner!  We even had a special visit by the Rampage Mascot who surprised Connor and Mackenzie with signed jerseys!  Mackenzie wore hers all around the house over the weekend!  Thank you so much to Mr. MacDonald for a night our entire family will never forget!
Saturday, the kids and I spent the day putting together a care package for my nephew.  Will, who's 6 has been in the hospital in DC for a week now and his dad was just deployed to Iraq on Friday.  Fortunately, my Mom was able to go up there and help out.  In addition, the Ronald McDonald house has been a blessing.  My sister lives only 60 miles from the hospital, but with DC traffic and the snow, it was taking 3 to 4 hours to commute back and forth every day.  With a 7 year old and 2 year old, that's tough!!  The good news is, he got his care package and is hopefully going to get to go home tomorrow.  Pray for his healing and for some rest and peace for my sister.
We took it easy on Sunday and when I worked Monday, James took the kids to play at Oma & Opa's.
Connor had a slight melt-down at school today because for one he didn't want me to leave, but two... we forgot his blankies!!!!  I have no idea how we did that!  Thank God for cell phones!!!  I called James and told him to drive as fast as he could to get the blankies up to the school!!!  All was well once the blankies arrived.
For now, I ask that you all pray that God will continue to place his hands on Connor's tumor and dissolve the tumor away.  I won't lie and say that I haven't been an emotional wreck these past few days worrying what the headaches mean.  I have to keep reminding myself that we do not know the plan God has for us.  And we have to trust in Him that everything will be okay.
God Bless,
James, Brandy, Mackenzie & Connor
